This   beautiful   handwoven  scarf  was done  for a  fellow breeder in Georgia. The fiber was shorn at his farm and spun at New Era Fiber in Tennessee.

The warp is solid black and the weft is appropriately named, "shooting stars".  These two incredible yarn combinations gave great depth and definition to the 24-harness point twill design woven throughout the body of the scarf.  Each end is hemstitched and fringe is hand-braided.

This piece was entered at the Putnam County Fair in August of '06 and won the blue ribbon in a class of 19 entries.  It also went on to be awarded the Best of Show from combining 10 classes totaling over 50 entries.

Handspun Yarn is here!

We searched the world over for 6 long years in persuit of that special "someone" to spin our fiber into gold. Obviously, it had to be suitable for weaving and that made the task even more demanding...added to the fact that I  love working with thin yarn, required the most talented spinner.  Finally, that talented someone surfaced and has given us one of the most wonderful blessings we could ask for, our own handspun yarn from our own herd and it's all made in Tennessee!

Spinning is as much of an art as weaving and requires an enormous amount of time, if you do it right.  The process will be slow. But, as anything worth having in life, well worth the wait.  As our inventory grows, there will be limited amounts made available for sale.

The skeins shown below will remain with me.  They are  sentimental, and for those that know me, know what a sap I am deep down.  The fiber is from Rocket - a 2 yr. old dark fawn male we birthed here at Kush Kuntry and lost a couple years ago.  We never got any of his offspring and it is for this reason, his fiber (now yarn) will accumulate with me until it tells me what to do with it.

Close up of Rocket...(color is most accurate)

We  are   thrilled   to  share  pictures  of our "Rocket". The yarn is 3-ply lace weight skeins. Look for more pictures when he gets cut off the loom!

  More comin' soon...
